The Warm Neutral Nursery

Oat, olive and oak. The whole room reads as one material palette, which is the entire trick — and it's why it still works when the crib eventually becomes a bed.

How to read this

Every number on the photo matches a line below. Items marked in clay are Casa Bea originals — printable art you download and frame yourself.

  1. 01 Woven rope storage baskets, set of two Under $35 The single most useful thing in the room. One for laundry, one for the toys that migrate in from the living room. View on Amazon
  2. 02 Oak three-drawer dresser $180–$260 Doubles as the changing table with a pad on top — which saves you a whole piece of furniture and about two square feet. View on Amazon
  3. 03 Botanical print set of three Casa Bea · $14 Muted olive and clay on off-white. Sized for 8×10, 11×14 and A4 frames, so you can use whatever you already own. Casa Bea shop
  4. 04 Linen blackout curtains, 84 in Under $50 Blackout matters more than almost anything else in this room. Get the length right: puddle them slightly rather than leave them short. View on Amazon
  5. 05 Washable jute-look area rug, 5×7 $70–$120 Washable is not a luxury here. Real jute is beautiful and will not survive the first year. View on Amazon
  6. 06 Wall-mounted picture-ledge bookshelf Under $30 Front-facing covers. Toddlers choose books by the picture, not the spine — this is the difference between books being read and books being ignored. View on Amazon
  7. 07 Warm-dim table lamp Under $45 Anything above 2700K at night is a mistake you make exactly once. View on Amazon
  8. 08 Rattan-front nightstand $60–$95 Texture is what keeps a neutral room from going flat. One rattan piece is enough for the whole room. View on Amazon
  9. 09 Cotton muslin blanket Under $30 For the chair, not the crib. Ends up being the thing you actually use every day. View on Amazon
  10. 10 Closet hanging organizer, six shelves Under $25 Baby clothes are too small to hang usefully. Shelves by size, labelled, and future-you saves ten minutes a day. View on Amazon
  11. 11 Printable storage labels Casa Bea · $6 Same typeface as the prints. Sizes 0–3m through 2T, plus blanks. Casa Bea shop
